ABOUT US

Welcome to the Big Bear Valley Historical Society and Museum, a seasonal living history museum dedicated to preserving and showcasing the rich local history of the Big Bear Valley. Our museum features working blacksmiths, interactive exhibits, and the opportunity for visitors to try their hand at panning for 'gold.' Our special events and engaging programs bring history to life, making it a memorable experience for all ages.

The Big Bear Valley Historical Society was founded in October of 1967. The mission of the Society is to foster the appreciation of the history of the Big Bear Valley, to aid in the preservation of historical artifacts, and to promote and conduct historical research of the area.

There are currently a total of nine structures exhibiting artifacts on the museum grounds, as well as a working blacksmith shop, gold panning, a running stamp mill, and picnic grounds. Guided tours are available by reservation.

Join us as a Historical Society Member and get into the Museum all summer long, for FREE!   Better yet, volunteer to work with us!
